Applicants should be prepared to play two to three octave (preferably three) major scales ascending and descending in the keys of C, G, D, A, F, B-flat, and E-flat. . Also, applicants should prepare two solo excerpts of their choice (one slow, one fast; 3 minutes total length). Solo excerpts should come from the solo repertoire for their specific instrument; selections from a concerto would be an excellent choice. An individual part from an orchestra class arrangement or a transcribed piece from pop or commercial literature is unacceptable. Please choose scales and solo pieces that best demonstrate your playing abilities. In addition, applicants are given a short musical piece to sight-read.
