Youth Performing Arts School at duPont Manual High School is the most comprehensive performing arts high school in Kentucky where students have the distinct opportunity to train, learn, and nurture their talent to become tomorrow's artists. Students are selected to attend by a competitive process that evaluates achievement test scores, academic achievement, personal essays, teacher recommendations, performing arts auditions, and on-site writing prompt. Jefferson County residents are not charged tuition. Residency in Jefferson County is required for admission to the Youth Performing Arts School at duPont Manual High School.   

Application Timeline for 2021-2022 School Year

11/2/20 -JCPS and YPAS online applications open

11/6/20- Early Review* application deadline

11/18/20-12/9/20- Early Review Auditions

12/9/20 - Early Review applicants notifications begin

12/16/20 - JCPS online application closes

12/16/20 - Application deadline


Late February – Applicants notified of admission decision


*Western Middle School students and Noe Middle School students recognized as Gifted in Visual and Performing Arts are eligible for early review auditions.

More information will follow regarding in-person or virtual auditions.  Detailed instructions will be provided at that time.  Students should be practicing the audition requirements found on the pages linked at the bottom of this page.
